Short Term Rental Moratorium to Expire/New Regulations in Place
The Salida City Council approved an ordinance on March 7th, 2017 extending a moratorium on issuing Short-Term Rental licenses for properties in residential zone districts in the City of Salida. The extension of the moratorium is set to expire three (3) months after adoption by City Council, which will be June 8, 2017.
Subsequent to the extension of the moratorium; the Salida Planning Commission and City Council have woked to establish new regulations for Short-Term Rental housing within the City of Salida. On April 18, 2017, the City Council adopted new regulations for Short-Term rental housing within the City of Salida. Said regulations will become effective on May 21, 2017, prior to the expiration of the moratorium.
When the moratorium on issuing licenses to Short-Term Rental housing expires, the new regulations will allow for a limited number of additional licenses to be issued based upon specific calculations prescribed by the newly adopted regulations. Licenses will be issued on a first come-first served basis for complete applications that are received. Any applications received in excess of the available licenses will not be placed on a waiting list. As additional licenses become available, they will also be issued on a first come-first served basis without the ability to be placed on a waiting list. Renewal applications will continue to be processed for licenses that were issued prior to the moratorium. License renewal fees have remained unchanged for the time being.
