$1,000 music scholarships available through Salida Concerts, Inc.
Salida Concerts, Inc., producers of the Salida Aspen Concerts six-week concert series, will accept applications until May 1, 2018, for two $1,000 scholarships to students who live within the Salida, Buena Vista, Cotopaxi, and Custer County school district boundaries.
To be considered, students must be a Senior in this year’s class of 2017-18 or have graduated from high school and be college bound to study music, or be a college student already enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate music program.
To apply, students must fill out the application, write a one-page essay about their musical interests and activities, and submit two letters of recommendation. Winners of this year’s scholarship competition will be announced on stage during one of the six Saturday concerts planned for this season, July 7 through August 11.
Funds for the scholarship program that began in 1999 represent a portion of the total charitable contributions and advertising dollars that are raised each year in the community to produce the series.
This season marks the 42nd anniversary of Salida Aspen Concerts in partnership with the Aspen Music Festival and School, where internationally acclaimed artists teach and perform with rising stars in their field.
